DISTANCE DENTAL LAUNCHED: A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE

For decades, Monroe Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program has set the standard for oral health education in our region. This rigorous two-year program combines clinical training with a strong academic foundation. Each year, approximately 70 students prepare for rewarding careers in oral healthcare. In 2024-2025, every MCC student who sat for the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination passed, and graduates once again entered the workforce with job offers in hand and wages well above the regional median.

Expanding to meet community needs, this legacy of excellence has been made even stronger thanks to our donors’ generous support. MCC, which offers the only dental hygiene program between Buffalo and Binghamton, has expanded access to dental hygiene education by launching three new distance learning sites in Jamestown, Watertown and Brockport.

Because of investments from the ESL Charitable Foundation and M&T Bank, students in rural communities now have access to this vital career pathway, and the dental workforce across New York State will be better prepared to meet community needs. We’re so grateful for your support and all it makes possible.

By expanding distance dental hygiene education into rural Western New York, the MCC Dental Studies Program is strengthening the oral health workforce that underserved communities depend on—remaining committed to providing opportunity, access and healthier futures for all those touched by this endeavor.
